Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

Are these worth the extra $$. Read somewhere that they last forever, don't remember where. But on average about $10 per set on the web.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I use Elixer Nanowebs on my Variax and love them. They do last a longer time and feel really nice. I use the Polywebs on my acoustic.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I love the way Elixir's sound on an acoustic. I personally don't care for the electric strings though. The strings do last quite awhile, and I think they're worth the extra cash.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I agree that they are worth the extra cash. I use the polywebs exclusively on my acoustics. They sound phenomenal and last much longer. I am not a fan of their electric strings at all though.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I use the nanoweb custom lights on my Taylor....won't use anything else. Definately worth the $$ in my book. I've had the current set on well over 6 months, with no signs of wear. Granted I don't play it every day....

I haven't tried the electric strings....I'm afraid I'll like them.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

i thought the elixir electric guitar strings were good, but not worth the money ... i buy d'addario XLs in ten packs for $30 and like them at least as much

LOL....I was using Ernie Balls on my Variax but was breaking them too much. I switched to the Elixers for feel and strength. Sonically, it doesn't matter what kind of strings are on the Variax.

The Elixers hold the tone for a good while. Problem is I'd break them before they could get to the end of their life. That and the coating makes 'em sound less gritty and greasy. Couldn't get a good ZZTop or AC/DC type of thing out of them.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

They really are worth the extra money as far as acoustic strings go... I don't have any experience with their electric strings...

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I've been using 12 Nanowebs on my Ovation 1771LX and it sounds great. Sound richer and more balanced than the D'Addario Phosphor Bronze IMHO and I've heard that they last a long time... I really hope so.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

hi,

I put my first elixir nanoweb stringset on last week and I love em. They feel absolutely great and have a nice bright sound. Unfortunately one string broke yesterday (I still have that sharp original bridge on) - I'll definitely get a new pack...

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I also use Elixirs on my acoustic. I think they sound great and they do hold their tone longer than regular acoustic strings. well worth the extra $$$ especially if you don't play the acoustic that often or don't change strings that often like I do...

i haven't tried elixirs on my electrics tho... I like to keep the strings on my electrics "fresh" so I change them about once a month...

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

Elixirs have been around for years. They're OK

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I love the soft feel that they have to them - but they don't last as long as some advertise. Mine started to peel after the first 2 weeks. (ELECTRIC)

Not worth it.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I have used the poly webs on acoustic and electric. They are more than worth it for acoustic but, I disliked them with electric.

Why bro? Was it feel, string life, sound, coating wore off too quickly? I really don't change strings unless they break, or I am installing new pickups :32: , but I have a lot more electrics to string?

It was mainly that the coating wore off way too quickly. They lost that slick feeling in a hurry!! I just didnt think they were worth the $10 a pack price. I will galdly pay the $13 for a pack of acoustics though.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

Not impressed with thier electric strings. Not bright enough, and they broke really quickly, maybe i had a duff set, but im not risking them again at that price.

Ernie Ball and D'addario for me all the way.

Re: Anyone heard of Elixir guitar strings?

I've only had one set of Elixirs and I wasn't all that impressed. They sounded fine, but they're way too expensive for my budget since I change strings every two shows. Just didn't seem worth the expenditure.
