Anyone heard of this guitar?

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

made by ESP japan, www.espguitars.net

That guitar is better than any fender you'll ever play. It usually pisses off some people when I say this, but the japanese have surpassed us in a lot of fields of building and technology. I think it's ethnocentric and borderline racist to believe they can't build just as good a guitar or better than an american. We are all human after all. With that said, the ESP Edwards les pauls, navigators, all were FAR, FAR SUPERIOR quality to the American Fenders and Gibsons. Yeah, they are copies after all, but not only are they better built, they come with much better hardware and electronics.

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

I have had two Navigators, a royal blue and a red one.
They are about some of the best strats I ever had played!
One got stolen, the other had to go due to way too many strats once;)
That one looks fab!

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

Thanks guys, I had a feeling some of you may have come across this guitar. I have played (and owned) some very fine guitars in my life and I have to say that this one does itch certain parts of my anatomy. I'll see if I can get some more details from the seller.

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

For that kind of outlay, I'd look at Anderson and Suhr guitars as well. ;)

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

they are, as mentioned supposed to be a killer strat copy which in most cases are better than a real strat sadly enough (for fender). i have been searching for "the right one" for a while whith no luck b/c i've wanted one for a long time. the headstock should look like this...

WRONG...the headstock on a Navagater looks like a Fender headstock...unles they have changed it in the past 6 or so months...

Norman_T,

You can get one for a far better price...how about $2400.00 or so for one? Try Andrew Mechling, he can be reached through www.guitarsjapan.com check out his site for some really amazing stuff!

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

WHOOOOOPSSS...sorry guys i thought the navagators shared the same headstock with the vintage plus...hece why i posted the pic of the vintage plus headstock...ok then ignore my pic lol. i'm getting my guitars mixed up today...

Both of mine had standart fenderheads.
And marvelous rosewood.

Well most Japanese highend are most likely to be even better than most US stuff in the same range.
They have a long tradition for extreme good workmanship.
I had tried a Tyler, and that old Red one I had was everybit as good...it had some old APS-1's too;)

Thanks for this I have sent the seller an e-mail requesting some further pics and details, but the price is just a little bit too high. You should not have sent me that link because I have just started going through and looking at some of their stuff - oh boy not again see you in a while fellas!!.

Vintage guitar nuts will agree with you. It's well known that the Japanese FORCED America to start producing good guitars again. Somehow, the Japanese got one step ahead of us when it came to producing fine musical instruments. I had an old late-70's Ibanez Les Paul Custom copy that flat out smoked my REAL '77 Les Paul........SMOKED it.

Look what old Tokai Les Pauls, Strats, and Teles are staring to pull. The prices are starting to get WAAAAAAY crazy. I owned an early Tokai '62 Strat copy that was neck-and-neck with the earliest (most desirable) 80's Fender Reissues quality-wise.

Re: Anyone heard of this guitar?

I have received some additional pictures from the seller and according to him they are old ones but the only difference between the pictures and the guitar in its present state is that it's had the frets polished and smoothed and it's had the brass nut polished. Presently its in a guitar shop for display purposes as the person who owns the shop is a friend. Although I had an itchy feeling about this guitar I think I'll pass on it. Here are a couple of the pics that he has sent me.

because it's illegal for them to build, sell, and advertise them in the states. Fender and Gibson have full rights to those in the states, but overseas copies can be built and sold. Technically those guitars can't be sold in or to the united states. Ebay is just a loophole.
