Anyone here heard of OBrien Amps? cool idea...

Re: Anyone here heard of OBrien Amps? cool idea...

Holy ****, $4k for a 50 watt head! They'd better be damn good ;).

That is a really cool idea though, I'd love to spend a few hours playing one...

Re: Anyone here heard of OBrien Amps? cool idea...

those are damn expensive too. Joe Bonamassa plays them... even though i just read somewhere that he uses Budda too. and Budda has a clip on their site. O'Brien amps are pretty cool looking too.

Re: Anyone here heard of OBrien Amps? cool idea...

that is a cool idea...so the more i push the pedal down the more gain i get....hmmm can i get one with the pedal welded down hahahaha. price is a bit crazy though.

Hey SheDoesntDoIt4Me! I go to DC Music a lot and know Tim pretty good. These are very cool amps. The website hasn't been updated yet, but they recently came out with a 30 watt version, 1x12" combo that's a lot better price. It doesn't have the fancy wood and leather of the bigger amps. But, the patented circuitry is there. I got to try the 30 watt prototype at DC one night. The ability to be playing clean or just slightly crunchy rhythm, then start going into a lead and slowly increasing the gain as you go...man, it's a whole new meaning to the word expressive.

sounds like he is running 2 channels all the time, and sending them out to a mix potentiometer, then back, into the PI. or some variation on the theme, either digital control, or a motorized pot setup. decent idea.

Wow, you can tell that from a 128kbps MP3? :laugh2:

Hey everyone. Been a while since I posted here, but I do the web design and some of the artist relations for O'Brien amps. Tim's one of my best friends in the world and I've been playing these since the prototype stages. I play a 4x10 50 watt combo myself, but we should have the info on the more moderately priced 30 watt Class A 1x12" combo and head up on the site in a few weeks along with much better soundclips. The 30 watter is also switchable to 15 watts and it just sounds killer. It's turning out to be the most popular model.

The MSRP is $2195 for the head and $2395 for the combo. I'm not speaking for dealers, but I'd guess the street price is around $1800 and $2000 respectively.
