Anyone Know Anything About The Bare Knuckle Hum.pups

I was just wondering if anyone has used the bare knuckle pickups and how they sound. I heard a couple of people talking about them in the other threads

All I know is this is their website. http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ I suppose they must have something in the US since more people are talking about them. I know one of the forum members endorses them but I can't think of his name.

Brow just got a set and T.O. just got an endorsement deal with them. They'll chime in.

They've been getting good reviews over here.

They've got a forum up now so players can post sound clips, theres not a lot now because it's new but there should be a lot of clips of them in action soon.

I can't imagine how a pickup wound to 17.5 (Miracle Man) or 22.55 (Warpig) could sound good. But I'm a vintage style guy myself.

You can get virtually any cover put on any pup; technically, my Miracle Man has a Nailbomb cover.

That's why. They do. :)

Don't be fooled by impedance. I have a 16K Nailbomb (and a 8,5K Riff Raff neck) and they are bright and clear.
This PU are amazing: the Nailbomb is fat but with incredible clarity, sparkle and bite for a 16K. It's nothing like a CC. More of a PAF with very high output.
Both Nailbomb and Riff Raff share a same features: huge punch. My Custom sounds anemic in comparison (and I love my Duncan Custom !)

I planned to buy a pair of bluesy/classic rock to hard rock PU (smoother, rounder). Something like Slash or Aerosmith....

Some of their other pickups look very interesting. The Mule and the Black Dog for example. I haven't really looked at the single coil offerings much.

I have a Black Dog bridge in my Gordon Smith and plan on a set of Alnico IV Mules for my Les Paul Standard in the future.

The Mules are pure vintage PAF, while the Black Dog is a BK overwound variant of a PAF (as are the VHII's).

The Black Dog is quite a bright pup (although that's probably down to the no load tone pot in my GSG) and it has a nice powerful mid-range grunt to it. All in all it's perfect for what I wanted in this guitar.

At their site, it says, regarding the Warpig:

"Suitable for bridge or neck position and available in all shades of black."

A 22.5k pickup in the neck position. Wow...

Tim (owner and maker of BK Pups) suggests to run a Warpig in Parallel for a great clean tone. I can't for sure how good they are as I haven't tried them myself, but if there quality and tone are as good as the 2 BK's that I own, then there can't be much wrong with them :D

Re: Anyone Know Anything About The Bare Knuckle Hum.pups

But then again, I wonder if you can make the Warpig look..."normal". Which is to say, yank the cover and put traditional pole pieces in it. It would look like a regular PAF-style humbucker and then blow up in the faces of the unsuspecting. The Stealth Pig...hmmmm.....

I've heard a lot of good things about BK's so I'm not knocking them. But remember the recipe for Gibson's P100 was two way-overwound (9.5k each) coils wired in parallel and it sounded like dog doo. Wonder why they didn't use to +/-4.0k coils in series?
