Anyone Put a JB/Jazz Combo in a Strat

I'm thinking about going the HH route with my Squier Strat and keeping the 5 way switching. I want versitility So I will probably go JB/Jazz or JB/59n. I am open to the HSS route, but I hate the weak single in this guitar. My affinity strat has much warmer and hotter singles. Going HSH is a little more difficult as it is harder to get HSH pickguards for a strat.

:feedback: What do you guys think?

I'm still looking for the right bridge PU, but I have the Jazz in the neck of my SS & love it (and I do not miss having a center single BTW). The 59 is a good neck PU as well but tends to be a bit dirtier, and the low end a bit fuzzier than the Jazz. So it depends on what you are looking for - if you want the old school dirty blues tone, with a tweed amp growling, go '59, it nails it.

If you want to do higher gain stuff, or clean jazzy stuff or just plain clean, be it fingerpicking ballady stuff or more on the shreddy side of clean, I think the jazz is better - tighter low end, cleaner mids, sweet high end. I also like it better split, in the neck, it has a nice woody tone. The '59 split in the neck was OK but nothing to write home about.

Thanks, it's what I thought, too. I have a Jazz in my Steinberger and it stays solid whether played clean or dirty. The Custom in the bridge is good, too and distorts cleanly and stays bright and clear clean. I'm not wild about the Lil' Screamin Demon in the middle. Should have gone with the Lil' 59.

I tried a lot of combinations of H-S-H in strats and have no use for them.

Way too much string pull, I had to lower the pups and that sound was not to my liking.

I use an Alnico II pro neck and a C5 bridge and got a new pickguard.

I use a 3 way switch, a stacked pot and regular pot for 2 volumes and a master tone. The original volume I dispensed with, it gets in the way of my hand.

When I did use the middle pickup a quarter pounder was the best choice for me. I wrapped it in copper foil and grounded it.

I even tried a Stag Mag and that was not a toneful pickup.

I have the JB/Jazz in one of my Strats. It is an excellent combo; each pup has its own character but also combine into a truly useful combo when selected together.

The C5/APH idea sounds interesting. I'm not looking to do a stacked control unless I do coil splits with a 3way and I'm not inclined to drill for a toggle. I have one in my SG. It's definitely not as useful as a 5 way. I decided to go with 2 hums instead of paying more money for 3 lil buckers and getting less power and less harmonics.
