I assume you are talking about single coil pickups. Changing the magnetic poles is for all practical purposes impossible. If you wanted to change the magnet type in a single coil pickup you'd have to have one made.

Yep...or maybe get a set of the Antiquity II Strat pickups which use alnico 5.

To my ears, alnico 5 Strat pickups have deeper bass and glassier highs and the mids are less pronounced than alnico 2 Strat pickups like the Texas Hots.
