Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

So, I was hoping to see some blowout black Friday/cyber Monday deals on pickups this weekend.

In particular for a set of Whole Lotta Humbuckers. However it 15% off at Guitar center is the best I could come up with. Doing some more browsing it appears that there haven't been really too many sales really applying to pickups at all thus far this season.

Has anyone seen or heard of any that I may have missed?

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

rsguitarworks had 25% off everything, including Fralin pickups. That's about it :)

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

MF has (had?) 15% off on top of some sales... EMG 89 in CREAM of all things was 50 bucks off to make it 75 before the 15% discount (kicks in at 199 total)

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

Not a black friday deal so to speak but Best Buy online is slinging Gibson pups brand new right now for what most people are charging for them used...thinking about snagging a BB3....

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

Last year, there were some really great deals. This season has been lackluster so far. Still, there will probably be a few good deals between now and X-mas.

Anything specific you were looking for?

Indeed, I've been looking for a set of Duncan SH-18's

best I can find on them is still right about $225 with covers. I did find one seller on ebay throwing in a cheapo tuner to sweeten the deal and free shipping.

I'm wondering if they're under some kind of price regulation from SD given the staggering exactness on price from sellers across the board

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

almost every product has a MAP price that dealers cannot go below

Hey Jeremy . . . just wanted to clarify something. "MAP" is minimum advertised price, right. As long as you don't post it in a flyer or a webpage, you can sell for any amount if the customer just walks in off the street, right? (Without violating any company policies.)

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

I believe it's also called "Price Maintenance". You can't sell it for a sale price but you can offer discounts (across the board) and incentives such as gift cards. You see it a lot with brands such as Apple.

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

I dont get it... Certainly, dealers buy their inventory at some kind of wholesale price? Well, after theyve purchased it, what in the world could keep them from blowing stuff out as clearance or loss leaders, at whatever price they feel like?

...are you saying Seymour would refuse to restock them if they did that or smthn? And even if ut's like that, with the near-monopoly the GC/MF corporation (same ownership!) has, could a pickup company even afford to refuse to sell to them??

they can. they just cannot advertise the new product below MAP, the minimum advertised price.

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

Just keep your eyes out. There's a good chance some 15%-20% discounts will pop up at the major online retailers closer to X-Mas.

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

Not quite pickups, but does anybody know of any rebate stacking to apply for Callaham parts?

The only major retailer that has them is chicagomusicexchange but they don't seem to go for the coupon madness.

You can buy them on Ebay which gives you Ebay bucks, 2% or whatever that is but I'm spoiled and aiming higher.

Re: Anyone Seen Any Good Pickup Deals?

Set up an account at Fat Wallet or a similar site, link through to eBay and buy away! You'll get eBay bucks plus a percentage of the purchase credited to you that gets mailed as a check every so often. Also, if you're new to F.W., sometimes they have introductory offers, like a $10 gift card with your first linked purchase, etc.
