Anyone tried a Tech 21 Tri Od ? Direct to PA?

Hi guys.. Anyone here ever try the Tech 21 Tri Od ? If so, did you use it direct? I mean going to the PA or Mixer while jamming with a band? If so, tell me about it? Did it work good? Does it have that tube feel? Tech 21 wrote me and said it would or could be too compressed if I used the Tri Od as a preamp and then used a tube power amp.. They said I should go directly to the board because the Tri Od has a power amp imulator?

Yes ! it will work. I normally carry my GT2 as a backup if my amp should happen
to crap out. Will it sound good? That depends. I don't want to start a raging
debate, But it will sound better then nothing.

I too have my GT2 as a backup and have gotten pretty good results.. Dunno about Tri OD though

Correct me if i'm wrong, I think the tri od is the footswitchable version of gt2 though for some reason the gt2 sounds better IMO. In my experience, this tube amp simulators, if you're going to run them to a to a tube amp, tend to sound too compressed. I think they're built with making a solid state amp sound like a tube amp in mind. Not sure about running them to PAs though.
