I've been doing a lot of recording at home lately...bit the bullet last year and got a Pro Tools setup for my PC on the recommendation of a producer friend, picked up PODfarm and started laying down tracks. While I love the vast array of esoteric emulations available via PODfarm, I was still missing MY tone - which happens to be a Mesa Boogie MK III.

So after hearing lots of positive reviews and soundclips, I checked out Recabinet Complete 2.01 and a IR (Impulse-Response) Convolution loader by Mellowmuse called IR1A. I took the slave/direct out of my MK III into the M-box, selected a modeled Greenback Celestion 4x12 cab pushed by an EL34 power section with Mellowmuse running as an insert on the track, and slapped down a rhythm track on a tune to A/B against the PODfarm emulation tracks...in a word HOLY CRAP!! :cool2:
I need to do a few more EQ tweaks on the basic tone, but I'm reeeeally impressed with the initial results. It's more realistic sounding, probably because it IS a real amp. I'm probably biased because it's MY amp, but there's something to be said for having the reactivity of your amp going in the room (I stepped down to 15 watts for recording and am using headphones, but it still feels better in my hands); I'm able to manipulate feedback and sustain, and because it feels better I as a result am playing better. Gotta love that. :naughty:
Anybody else tried it?
