Anyone tried the GFS Classic II? Tonerider Alnico 2 Classic? Anything similar?

So I got a zebra Suhr SSH+ for one of my Les Pauls. I kinda want a zebra neck pickup to match, but I don't want to spend lots. I'm digging the Gibson 490R at the moment, so kinda want something along the lines. Not necessarily a clone. Just, very broadly speaking, a nice-sounding Alnico 2 smooth vintage output wind.

So... do these pickups get you guys' seal of approval? Is there any other option I should be looking at?

Everything I have played from them has been damn good. I put a VEH in two different friend's guitars and they sounded fantastic. A guy I worked with installed their "metal" pickup, I forgot the model but the thing crushed. I would not shy away from them based on cost, they are inexpensive, not cheap.

Yeah, I used to have a RedActive that stood up very well to EMG's I had at the time. It was just kinda noisy.

Do they use the same mounting screws as Duncans/DiMarzios/Gibsons, tho? Because I know Epiphone Probuckers don't.

I know mine came with screws and springs

The dimarzios i have had
had odd feet and tiny screws
unlike the SD with rectangle feet and small screws
the Carvin pickups used a larger screw

I am not sure what differences you refer to

The screws you mount them to the pickup rings with. Not the lenght, but the diameter and/or the threads.

I've tried installing Epiphone Probuckers before with the screws that come with Duncans. The diameter is too small for the Epi pickups. But those same screws that come with Duncans do work with Gibson, Suhr, and DiMarzio pickups.

But I guess if they come with their own screws and springs, it doesn't matter a lot.

Yeah. The biggest limitation on the Sterling Ray is the pickup is pretty neutral sounding through my rig. The GFS only let's you wire in series or split unfortunately, not parallel.
