Anyone using a whammy pedal? How do you use it?

I bought one because Buckethead has one, and I'm having a rather tough time trying to solo with it.
Any suggestions? How do you use it?

Personally, I was really impressed with John Scofield using one to get a chorus effect when I saw him live. One of my favorite things to do with one was to get a pedal steel thing going using the ^2nd/^3rd setting.

Dudes of Korn use it nicely. They have some eerie melodies. Maybe you could get some ideas off of them too.

I'm not creative enough, so I ape Morello, Gilmour, Satch and Dime.

Sometimes I'll pair it with heavy distortion, envelope filter or Phaser and delay to try to emulate a moog analog synth.
