Apartment amp?

Whats a good sounding Smallish amp, with a head phone jack? Something that would work good for apartment use. I'm tired of having the police called on me, haha.

Doesn't have to be big at all really. I've got other amps for when I need to be really loud, so I'll mostly be useing this with headphones for playing late at night/when assholes are sleeping/at home.

I've never even looked into small modeling amps before, as I never saw the purpose of having one. But now I sorta need somthing along those lines, cause i really can't afford to keep getting tickets.

I was thinking of getting a VoxAD15 (the one with the 8" speaker), cause they sound good in the stores, really good actually. But How do they sound through head phones? Can ya use em for direct recording (which is another I'de most likely use it for)? Do they sound as good direct as they do through the speaker? Hows the build quality? And reliablity?

I was also thinking of Just getting a Podxt. I've tried em out a few times, and they always sounded really good to me. But Being as I have very limited experiance with amp modeler, I dunno whether its one of those "it sounds great at first, and then you see the flaws." And it does seem to have ALOT of tonal possibilitys, what with the effects, and reverbs, and pedal sounds and all.

So yeah, anyone that's got either one of those (or both) I'de really appreciate hearing your opinon on them, which you'de recommend, what ya think the short comings are, etc... It would be massively helpful. Also if anyone has any suggestions for something better, feel free to tell me about it. Gotta keep it below $300 though.

Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Apartment amp?

Roland Micro Cubes and the vox equivalent (name is slipping me) are both great little bedroom jammers. I have a friend that has both. The blackface and rectifier setting on the micro cube are awesome.

Re: Apartment amp?

Roland Cube if you want an actual amp with a speaker and all.

One of those POD bean things if you're going to use headphones... just 'cause of the extra FX and tweekablity.

Re: Apartment amp?

The roland and vox stuff are cool for all-in-one practice amps, but the pod is the winner for headphones or monitor speakers. Choose accordingly...

Re: Apartment amp?

What about a vox tonelab (basically a vox version pod) either the desktop model or one of the floor models. I like them because they are laid out in a logical manner (no need to flick through patches on a tiny LCD). They also sound great on the vox settings (I'm a vox man) and there are 4 vox's but they are also good on other settings. I find vox stuff more natural sounding then the line 6 stuff because I find while it sounds nice its a little gimicky and overdone.

Re: Apartment amp?

The Vox amps are :cool3:, but if you're gonna be using headphones anyway, get a POD.
