APH-1 Alnico II ProTM advice and question...

Hello everyone, I have a question for the wise and experienced minds of the SD Forum, as I'm hoping you can be of help to me.

I'm an aspiriing blues player, also learning jazz. Presently, I have a Heritage 150 (LP style) with Schaller Golden 50's. Nice all around pick up. No question.

In my other guitar, a Heritage Prospect (semi hollow, and a little smaller than a 335) has SD 59's. Personally, IMHO, this guitar creates tones that are from the heavans above.

A friend of mine recommends that I test drive SD Alnico II Pro's in my 150 in that it will give me more glassy, bell like highs, along with fuller bass response.

To those of you who have SD Alnico II Pro's in your LP, what are your thoughts, impressions and suggesstions regarding these pickups? How do they compare to SD 59's, the Schaller Golden 50's, etc?

I've never used them but ive heard lots about them from this forum, there are lots of people here who use them. And from what i know about them your friend is probably right about the more glassy bell like highs with fuller bass response...that is glassy compared to other humbuckers, not like single coil glassy.

They will probably be smoother than the 59's and maybe even a bit fatter, and if you're playing blues and especially jazz i think the alnico 2 pros would be more up your alley by a long shot!

I can't comment on the other p/u's but that description of the neck AP2H sounds about right. It works very nicely for blues and jazz. It has a bit of "air" around the high end, but it is warm and round as well.

I have a 59' Bridge, APH II Neck combo in my 335 clone. It gives me a
beautiful contrast. The APH is sweet and warm, great for Jazz or Blues.
While the 59' is bright and bitting with a vintage flavor.
