Hey there guys n gals. Hoping to find out a bit of info on a couple of pups I found in one of my late dad’s axes. The bridge being a JB-J (sorry, have already seen that this pick up causes friction in the forum for what ever reason) and in the neck a APH1-NJ. I’ve used quite a few Seymour’s over the years but sorry to say not quite the aficionado I should be. Here a few pics of the pups, any info on them would be great! Cheers folks!

So, you know the JB, wound by MJ. (Maricella Juarez.) The other is an older AII Pro neck, also wound by MJ. You have two really great pups.

They both also have the large SD logo with no Made in America, so they were manufactured between 83’ and 86’. Nice, early 80s production range. Artie hit everything else you need to know.

The improvised coil tap on the Alinico 2 Pro neck (or phase reverse wires - the ground on the baseplate makes me think there's phase reverse capability intended) would diminish the value. But still fine pickups.

Let us know how you like them. It should be a nice combo. Some people find they love the JB in a Les Paul and some find it a bit mid heavy, it just depends on the guitar, your amp, your playing style and other factors as well...what you like to hear.

Will do! It’ll range from blues to metal mainly. I did end up grabbing a second hand Ibanez RG421 today and it did cross my mind to drop the bridge JB in that but don’t think it’ll do it justice compared to a Les Paul.

Well, a JB in a superstrat is the place that made the JB famous. The JB has been in more superstrats than in any other type of guitar. Not trying to make your choice any more difficult, and I don’t know much about the different quality levels of the Ibanez Models. If the 421 is a good one, I might be tempted to at least try the set in that one. Can’t hurt.
