Hey guys

haven't tried this combo in a while
I've got a customer who wants a modern, aggresive bridge pickkup - i'm going JB or Custom - prob the custom - he's already got one of my guitars iwth a JB
but the 59 i used for his neck is too "vintage" for him

personally, i don't like hte jazz - i've found it too be too percussive and "steel drum-esque" in the wrong guitar - that being a maple necked guitar with a thin mahgany body and carved maple top - similar toa prs CE

that being said, i'm wondering if the alnico 2 pro will keep up with a high output bridge pickup - it been a very low output pickup on the tone chart

and do you think is has the "more modern" voice

thanks all

Re: aph2 keeps up with a custom?

I have an alncio 2 pro and custom bridge combination and it works very well the alncio 2 pro will balance very easily with the custom, I just raise the neck humbucker a little thats all and i have no problems with the output it is farily similar, but it sounds great and blends nicely with the custom.

That combo should work just fine.

i have this combo in a mahogany SG. Dills is right they do blend together very nicely. When i am playing through heavy distortion on bridge and move switch to middle position my tone instantly warms up for a nice classic rock type tone without losing its edgyness too much. And as for output i dont really notice any problems concerning volume.
