Aphex Xciter pedals--anyone tried these?

Just curious. Have any of you tried the Aphex Xciter pedals? I might be interested in getting one, but I'd like to know your experiences.

Re: Aphex Xciter pedals--anyone tried these?

I haven't used the Aphex but I used to use a BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer in my guitar rig and it sounded great; be sure to run it last in your signal chain before the power amp. I don't use the BBE now because it smoothed out my tone too much. I like my Marshall to be gritty and less hi-fi sounding so I removed the BBE from my loop. I'm planning to migrate back to rack gear in the near future and the BBE will resume it's residency in my rig when I do so.

As a side note you can also change your frequency response with the BBE. You can fill out the bottom end (almost like having a depth knob) or you can dial in a lot of top end sizzle. For an example of this, listen to Dave Mustaine's sound on Rust in Peace. The first guitar in the intro to "Holy Wars" is Dave.

The BBE is a whole 'nother thing compared to the Aphex exciters...

But does BBE make stomp boxes? Aphex does. I'm really not looking to build a rack. I Probably would get the acoustic xciter to liven up my occasional acoustic gig.
