Are the blackouts coil splittable ?

Re: Are the blackouts coil splittable ?

I don´t think I´ve ever seen a truly splittable active PU in my life. Even teh EMG 89 isn´t really splitting from the way I understand it, but an actual physical coil (though I´ve never opened one up, so this may actually be false).

Re: Are the blackouts coil splittable ?

I had a jackson soloist once which had the 81 85 pups and it had a push pull knob. It sounded like it reduced the output severly. Thats why I was wondering. I even had the push pull knob changed into a two way switch since I never liked the other way. The push push knob is much more sensible. Or maby it was preamp on/off. Any info is welcomed.

From what you´re describing it was most likely an EMG "Afterburner", a switchable boost of up to 20dB.

Re: Are the blackouts coil splittable ?

Yeah that's probably it. Cause with the switch on there was ridiculous amount of gain.
