Are these direct-recorded guitars passable?

I'm working on a new tune, and I pretty much need to direct record the guitars. I was testing two methods in the "heavy" portion of the song, and wound up doing a blend of the two. Is it passable? I'm shooting for halfway-decent demo-quality. I don't know if I have the patience or gear to get it super good.

The two methods:
1. Line 6 Flextone I head (rectifier setting), direct out, with cab sim applied in computer (two takes, panned 70% L and R, kinda lower in mix).
2. DI box clean guitar, then Revalver MKII (one of the kitty presets, two takes, panned hard L and R).

The drums are just quickly mixed.

Need more low and mid --- sound like they're being recorded on a telephone.

Slow curve on the lows and put a little low mid and mid hump in there

I'll play around with the low and low mid EQ. I don't want to step on the bass guitar that will be present, which will be holding down the low end. but yes, I think the cab simulation thins out the tone to prevent being boomy, but in the act robs it of the mid-low smack.

So I was bored and decided to play with an EQ on your track a bit... hope you don't mind!

I see it's about the same that HotSEXJ suggestion, so +1 to that

It's all down to personal preference of course, but I'd change it to something like this.

I think the guitars are passable and that the tone fits well so no need for radical tone changing, just a little EQ. I boosted the highs in my example as well to get more push into the cymbals.

Nice work! That EQ did help it sound more alive and present. Don't stress though - I think your original take sounded quite good, especially for a demoed metal tone!

thanks! I'm impressed with Revalver. Very nice tool. You can go in and "change" tubes as well as tube specs and stuff, which is pretty crazy. I haven't even played around with any of that stuff yet - I'd probably get lost for a few days.
