Re: Are You Telling Me No One Here Knows **** About A H&k Triamp!!!!
Hey, I can't believe I didn't see this thing earlier.
What do you want to know? I had one for a while and eventually sold it.
6 independent preamps, 100w all tube tone, 13 tubes... it's a versatile superbeast. Chimey clean, to dirty blues, to plexi Marshall, to classic rock to modern rock to high gain VHT/ENGL/Bogner type territory.
It was way too much amp for me. It was huge, heavy, and LOUD... I can't stress that enough. I only tapped into a 1/5th of the amp and the windows and floor would rattle like you wouldn't believe. Truly a gigging cover band's shining star.
Each tone wasn't quite as responsive or touch sensitive as say a boutique equivalent dedicated to that particular field, but all the channels cleaned up very well... the sign of a truly great amplifier.
Oh yeah, and it can be found used for a little more than the typical Marshall DSL / Mesa Recto... now THAT'S the real kicker (the Triamp will dominate those both in cleans all the way up to high gain).
If they made a 30-40w version, I'd be all over it. The only thing I disliked about it besides how loud it was, was the noise associated with the high gain channel; you'll definitely need a noise suppressor of some sort for it.
