Hey just because we don't know stuff isn't any reason to get angry... and it'll probably cause us to ignore your posts in the future. There's plenty of other places to get info.

Hey, I can't believe I didn't see this thing earlier.

What do you want to know? I had one for a while and eventually sold it.

6 independent preamps, 100w all tube tone, 13 tubes... it's a versatile superbeast. Chimey clean, to dirty blues, to plexi Marshall, to classic rock to modern rock to high gain VHT/ENGL/Bogner type territory.

It was way too much amp for me. It was huge, heavy, and LOUD... I can't stress that enough. I only tapped into a 1/5th of the amp and the windows and floor would rattle like you wouldn't believe. Truly a gigging cover band's shining star.

Each tone wasn't quite as responsive or touch sensitive as say a boutique equivalent dedicated to that particular field, but all the channels cleaned up very well... the sign of a truly great amplifier.

Oh yeah, and it can be found used for a little more than the typical Marshall DSL / Mesa Recto... now THAT'S the real kicker (the Triamp will dominate those both in cleans all the way up to high gain).

If they made a 30-40w version, I'd be all over it. The only thing I disliked about it besides how loud it was, was the noise associated with the high gain channel; you'll definitely need a noise suppressor of some sort for it.

I don't own one myself, but any H&K amp is pretty decent. I'm partial to the Vortex, myself, but I can't imagine it sounding bad.

If you were truly kidding around, then I apologize. It really didn't come off that way though (nothing to indicate as such).

Re: Are You Telling Me No One Here Knows **** About A H&k Triamp!!!!

I know Alex Lifeson from Rush has been using the Triamp and the Zentera in concert. The Zentera is a modeling amp. His sound went anywhere from awesome to overdistorted and harsh so I have to assume one of these amps--likeley the Triamp since it's tube--was the great sounding one. Who know what he's running in front of or behind them though.

Hi, this is my first post though I've been lurking for sooooo long.

So how much do these triamps usually go for? I'm kindof familiar with the amp and its qualities, and saw one at my local guitar center (in the used section) for a bit over a grand. It seems steep, but could it be worth it?

Dan.

Re: Are You Telling Me No One Here Knows **** About A H&k Triamp!!!!

I would say that only your own ears can tell you if it's worth it. These are expensive amps that have a few versions like MKII, original etc... Using ebay's completed auctions as a guide there are none that sold although the asking prices are between $1300 and $1900 for the head only. There is one current auction for a head and 2x12 cab but the seller has a 0 feedback rating and there are no bids so I wouldn't use that as an indicator.

I apologize then, but there was really no indication that you were joking.

I usually add a funny smiley if i want to indicate that I'm being sarcastic or joking.

Re: Are You Telling Me No One Here Knows **** About A H&k Triamp!!!!

Someone wanted to trade me a MK1 head for my Jubilee 2x12 combo. I just wanted to find a little out about them. And the value and any issues. I dont think Ill do it.

Now you're getting the hang of it!

Re: Are You Telling Me No One Here Knows **** About A H&k Triamp!!!!

I bought and sold the amp for $1050. You can definitely find it for around there, so don't get tricked into paying more.
