Arion SCH-1 Chorus

Who owns this pedal? What do you think of it? Just bought one and waiting on it to be shipped to me. It's the original 80's Japanese version and not the SCH-Z, which I've been told is the Fat Chorus reborn. I've heard glowing reports about this pedal. It apparently does a nice leslie simulation like a univibe does if you tweak it just right.

Re: Arion SCH-1 Chorus

Had one, very unique voice, listen to Landau, he uses it alot, still have an old Arion flanger as well, but got a Yamaha FL-100 instead now, the Arion's are cool units, I always used mine before any drive by the way.

Re: Arion SCH-1 Chorus

Can you name some Landau tunes or direct me to somewhere that I can hear him crank this thing up? The only thing I've seen of his is when he did some sit in stuff with Michelle Branch on the Women's Entertainment Channel or something like that. He was very punchy sounding and had great tone, but he didn't use a chorus that I could tell in the whole show.

Re: Arion SCH-1 Chorus

I have one of these and it is a nice sounding chorus. It's not the most rugged pedal, though. I put mine on an SKB pedalboard and after a few gigs, one of the knobs had popped off and the switch got funky where it either wouldn't turn on or wouldn't turn off. The pseudo-Leslie capabilities are a little overstated in my opinion. It'll do a Leslie thing sort of (like most modulation effects will) but it never seemed all that realistic or musical to me. I just heard the Line 6 Roto Box (or whatever they call it) and that sounded pretty dang cool and realistic.

Re: Arion SCH-1 Chorus

Yeah, I know it's not an accurate clone of what a Leslie sounds like, but it's close enough for gubmint work. ;)

I was primarily looking for something smooth and not glassy sounding. I hate that glassy sheen on most cheap choruses out there. I want the chorus to sound smooth and transparent. Barely noticeable unless it's doing the fake leslie thing.
