I have a G&L ASAT Classic Tribute model with the original MFD neck pickup (which I love) and a traditional alnico bridge pickup. I don’t care for the bridge pickup, it’s too thin and very difficult to balance with the powerful MFD neck unless I raise it all the way up and then it just sounds awful.
I have adjusted pickup heights endlessly and cannot pull a sound or balance I like out of the bridge. I’m looking for a pickup that has more beef and power but doesn’t completely sacrifice that tele twang and snap. Balancing with the powerful MFD neck is a necessity.
I’ve tried the SD Lil 59 and didn’t care for it, also not looking to go back to the MFD bridge pickup. Apologies if I’m being too picky haha.
I’d prefer recommendations from SD or Dimarzio, but open to Fralin or Lollar too.
