ash and mahogany/maple

ok so if there's two guitars that are exactly the same pups and necks but one is ash and one is mahogany with maple cap would the sound be much different? The reason I ask is that I really want a tele with a JB/Jazz, and g&l makes a dual humbucker one with a jb in it but it's not the traditional ash body it's a mahogany with maple cap. I already have an LP style guitar and don't want to be repeating myself tonally here so I was wondering what you guys think. It would be a pain in my ass to buy a standard g&l tele and make it fit two humbuckers, i'd have to get a different bridge and all remember. So whatcha think?

Yep, they'd sound different. The mahogany/maple combo will be bassier and brighter than the swampash body.

If that's an ASAT Deluxe, the maple top might be too thin to have an effect on the sound (compared to a Les Paul with a thick maple cap).

I might be a little conservative as far as wood combinations go, but the mahogany makes sense to me with humbuckers

The ASAT will sound different than an LP anyway, due to the way its built, the scale length, etc.

can you try one out somewhere?

no as stated in my other post I live in maine... i dunno I really plan on mostly using the bucker's in split mode since I have an LP style guitar already so I think I might just bite the bullet and get a standard tele... I dont really think i have the equipment or knowledge to carve the wood though.... argh I just dont know man.
