i'm going to embark on my first tele project. i have a usa ash body with mighty mite maple/rosewood neck. i'm going to clear-nitro the body. what pickguard would you go for? would a dark one tend to look better with the light body? or because of the rose neck, could i get away with a light one? or can i just do what the hell i like? i'd like your opinions. thanks.

Re: ash body, which pickguard?

I'm thinking a darker color would add some contrast to the Clear Ash.:yeah:

Both will look good ! check out some 70`s teles on the bay if you wanna visualize it ;)

I'd try to get a bakelite one. I always like natural (or butterscotch) teles with bakelite.

Re: ash body, which pickguard?

yeah i was thinking the bakelite would look sweet. i like the tortoise in the pic above. but weird- not about the pickguard, but if you focus on the wood at the bottom right of the guitar body, it looks like a fat man/woman's wobbly a$$! "nitro-cellulite" finish, you could call it!
