ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

So I'm hoping someone here can help with this. For well over a year or so I've been using Cubase 4 LE and my line 6 pod xt to record my guitar tracks just so I have something to e-mail off to band members. Well I used this setup sunday morning and it worked fine. Sunday afternoon I decided to run the Line 6 Monkey and I updated the drivers and such for my Pod XT. Now when I open my Cubase I have a flashing red Light that says ASIO Time Overload. The only changes made to my computer were the update of the line 6 drivers. any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hmm. My X3 never worked well with Cubase so I have abandoned it and moved to Sonar.
Did you check your ASIO settings? what is the estimated latency?

You should also try posting this at Line 6 forum. There are a lot of experienced Line 6 users there.

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

See I don't know where in Cubase to change the latency/Buffer. I've gone into device setup and I've always used the ASIO Full Duplex Driver. But i don't see where I can change the buffersize. I didn't make any changes to that. I've changed the buffer size on the POD XT and that didn't make a difference. It's just a stock soundcard in the computer, I don't do much other then record ideas quick which is why i used cubase 4 le. It was free.

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

Try removing the drivers completely and install the newest one again. Also please tell us that your driver settings are. Buffer size, bit..etc?

Thanks. I'll try that when I get home from work. I was thinking of possibly uninstalling cubase and re-installing it though I'm not convinced now that its totally the updates fault now. I tried my Lexicon Alpha USB interface that I use with Skype and that is acting funny now too. as though the playback of it is very distorted and compressed and slowed down. So it may be that there is some change/damage to the sound card? FML

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

Sounds like a driver issue to me, a correct driver or not makes a huge difference.
Go into device setup -> control panel. There should be a tab for it. Check out the latency, if it's anything higher than 10 or 13 ms then you got the wrong driver.
How fast is your computer by itself? This stuff doesn't work on older computers.
I'm pretty shure you should be able to choose anything else besides the full duplex driver which is stock/generic. Make shure you use the latest driver installed specific for the POD/audio interface.
To my knowledge, the POD will work as an external sound card, bypassing your computers card.

When you plug in another interface like the lexicon, you need a different driver for it to operate. Every piece of hardware inside or linked to your computer needs the right driver to work correctly.

ASIO Full Duplex Driver
Don't use full duplex it has terrible latency try and use the native driver I dont know about the pod but with the toneport it just says asio toneport works fine with cubase for me (other then the fact my toneport has its own problems in any use)

I tried that and it works... The only problem is that the playback comes through the POD XT rather then the PC speakers. Latency is much improved, but can i fiddle with the settings so that the POD is used for recording and playback goes through the speakers?

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

I have a similar problem with Ableton Live and Toneport now. I updated both POD Farm and the drivers, and I can't use the Tonepot normally anymore. POD Farm do not work, and Ableton Crashes from time to time.
I wrote a Ticket to support, and they are trying hard to find the reason. But whatever we tried, it's not working. Uninstalling and reinstalling everything, plus the antivirus programs, changing USB ports, cables ... Still not working :(

That's weird. That sounds exactly like whats happened to me minus the POD farm. I've been using this set up (Same POD XT/Cubase/computer) for almost 2 years and countless recordings now and all of a sudden it stops working the day i update a driver. Who did you contact on customer support? Abbleton or Line 6? Seems like a situation where they would just blame eachother. What OS are you using? I still have XP.

The Ableton works fine without the Line6 drivers. So it's Line6 stuff
I filled a Ticket on the Support at Line6.com. They answered back the next day, and we exchange messages since then. I uploaded ol the logs of my system and the Monkey Logs...They try to help, but i assume somethign went wrong with th newest drivers and Pod Farm

Oh you want to run it out the computer speakers that is one of the possible problems then because then you are using two soundcards (the POD and the PC soundcard) the best idea is to use the output of the POD, does it have a 1/8 inch output you can plug ur pc speakers into?

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

Ok so I switched over to the Line 6 for my driver in cubase and now when i play a recorded part back it comes back very muffled and very "low bit", as in gurrgled and digital sounding like an atari system. what now!? I'm ready to just Use my 8 track tascam and go old school from now on. :banghead: need more time playing guitar less time with computers

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

You may need to increase the latency a bit in line 6 monkey to free up cpu usage other then that I don't really have any ideas other then going old school

Re: ASIO/LINE 6/CUBASE 4 Help!

yeah i uninstalled the line 6 software last night and i'll be reinstalling it tonight. hopefully this will help but who knows. I think I will just be recording on my tascam from now on and transfer all of the data to my CPU for edititing
