If you are at all a fan of Jimi Hendrix and want to get his tones, run out and get the Digitech Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal....
I tried one at Guitar Center once- I hated it, I couldn't figure it out- it seemed like someone screwed up the calibration of the pedal so I gave up (the calibration turns out to be an easy fix). I also hate Digitech as an old RP-6 I had was unreliable. A few months later, this past Friday, I gave it another try, with a good salesman and the manual....
OH MY GOD- this is Jimi in a Box. Forget about all of those Dunlop HendriX Pedals- this pedal does not sound like Line 6 digital modeling, all the tones sounds pure and retain their own character- it sounds so close to the recording, as well as his live tones, that it's scary.
Out of the box it has 4 settings, Purple Haze, Wind Cries Mary, Foxey Lady, Little Wing, All Along the Watctower, Voodoo Child, and the Star Spangled Banner Live at Woodstock...
Each setting has 2-3 tones which can be activated by hitting toe up or heel down.
The Wah Wah on Voodoo Child kills my Dunlop Crybaby Classic.... The Star Spangled Banner has an awesome Univibe.
The Foxey Lady setting I'm still adjusting to, it's a little bass heavy, but I have to fiddle with the level and drive settings along with my Marshall...
Overall, this is the best sounding pedal (if you're into the Hendrix vibe) that I ever had... It's not like all those EVH, Zakk Wylde signature pedals out there- this pedal is Jimi Hendrix (as well as SRV) in a box....
The pedal does sound better through the clean channel of my Marshall JCM800 than through my Roland Micro Tube, but you still can get some good sounds out of the Micro Tube with some adjustments....
The pedal could be easier to use, it's a little tricky figuring out how to switch tones in each setting, but tone wise the pedal is just phenomenal.... I couldn't beleive I was able to plug in and hear Jimi Hendrix through my guitar and amp...
Again, I'm not a salesperson, and I hate DOD and Digitech, but Digitech got it right this time. The pedal seems very sturdy and well built as well.
