Attenuator Question?

I have a 100 watt non master volume tube amp, I had bought a Weber mass attenuator that is 100 watt. I'm reading on line you should double up on the watts of the attenuator. But i also read that you can use the 100 watt attenuator sparingly.
Question is, Would it be safe to use this? If so what max volume would be in the safe zone?

Re: Attenuator Question?

Yeah i was just thinking of putting the volume to about 4 or 5 just when i start to hear the break up

Re: Attenuator Question?

itll probably be ok. i have a mass 100 and its pretty beefy.

there is a speaker motor in there and if you run your 100w amp full up and knock the volume way down the motor will over heat.

if you are running the volume at 5 and only moderately reduce the volume you should be fine
