i've been using audacity to reduce the tempo of songs and up to a certain point its pretty good. but after about 10% reduction it starts to fall apart.
i just downloaded the trial for Amazing Slow Downer. but can only play about 1 minute's worth of a song.
has anybody compared these two?

http://www.reaper.fm/

click on audio file --> F2 (properties) --> set playback rate, tick 'preserve pitch' (around the middle of the window)

I know Audacity and Reaper, and although I'm not familiar with Slow Downer, I can say this much...
even among the best time-stretch algorithms, there's a point of diminishing returns.
In my experience, assuming a sample rate of 44.1k, 10% is pushing it.
The higher the sample rate, the longer the stretch, but it's never going to be so long as to fit a half-time tempo for an entire song.

I've been using YouTube to slow down some tracks, and it works pretty well for half-speed. You can't gradually increase the speed, though.
