What Make and model is best suited to the classic Strat sound (Hendrix and others)

I'd say any vintage style Strat with 6K neck & middle pickups should fill the bill. Hendrix used maple fingerboard and rosewood fingerboard Strats, so go with whatever you like.

IMO, the best value in a new Strat is the Jimmie Vaughn. Great neck profile, jumbo frets, quality hardware, good pickups. Swap out the pickups for some Antiquitys and you'll have a 100% pro guitar.

which type? not sure what you're talkin bout, but you should find a vintage style FENDER pup, cuz I don't think Hendrix used custom pickups.

the fender custom shop 69s are the Hendrix pickup. AVNs are more expensive, noiseless pups, I heard a set recently that sounded great.

If you want jimi hendrix single coil sound you have to get the woodstock set from Kinman.
