awaiting for Perpetual Burn to replace Custom custom...

Hi.

Just going to replace my Custom custom with one Perpetual Burn.

My set is one stratocaster floyd rose with warmoth maple/ebony neck, YJM at neck and middle, TB-11 at bridge.

The TB-11 is great, the one stratocaster sound I like into one Trembucker.

But the YJM are so lower output. The sound is well balanced, there is no volume issues or dynamic with the TB-11. The only is for gain or distorsion sounds, the TB-11 has more gain output and with overdrive/distorsion sounds there is like if you were playing blues with YJM then the TB-11 plays rock, if you play rock with YJM then the TB-11 plays metal.

So I think than Perpetual Burn would be a better set, since is lower output than TB-11.

But one PB in one stratocaster to strat sound? I don´t know if this will play well.

There is no much to chose in that SD range for one trembucker.

Yes, I know, another Hs/TB to pair with YJM post...LOL

For clarification, are you asking if the Perpetual Burn is a good match for the YJM stacks?

Yes. The CC works well but I´ll try with Perpetual Burn lower gain to match with YJM...

Re: awaiting for Perpetual Burn to replace Custom custom...

Well, I am not so sure the Perpetual Burn is lower gain...it is EQ'd differently, and is clearer, which can sound like it is louder because there are more highs. If you don't like the mid-focus of the Custom Custom and want a clearer sounding pickup, the Perpetual Burn is a good choice. But I am not so sure if it is really that much lower in gain.

I'm gonna have to kinda sorta go with Mincer on this one, mmkay.

Maybe consider lower/raising the pickups to better match the outputs.

Yes, I´m not sure too.

I love mids form CC, it´s whats I chose CC at first, and for trully strat sound.

For trembuckers there is no much to chose in low gain. Pearly Gates are good too, but I preffer Pearly Gates in Gibson/mahogany and I don´t have references from TB-APH1...

I think than Parallel axis blue saraceno PA-TB3b should be the perfect match for YJM by specifications, but there is no white color LOL.

Let you know when PB arrives if I like more than CC or not...

the PATB3 is one of my favorite pickups EVER. but... not really low output. not nearly low output enough to go with the YJM's.

I'd rather go with a pearly gates if you want mids. or... a jazzB (if you want the clear tones of the PB).

There is the 59/Custom as well if the PB doesn't work out.

hummm, I´m just tried the PB and I´m thinking this PB is not I was waiting. :(

The PB is a great pickup, I like harmonics and the true Jason feel in sounds, but this kills the stratocaster fender sound that I loves.

I´ll try this PB once again tomorrow but I´m thinking to coming back to custom custom.

PB should be great for ibanez or superstrato, my fender has floyd rose, but I´m not looking for supertrat sound, I like true fender sound.

May I suggest just getting a YJM bridge?

Maybe you'd like Screamin' Demon.

Re: awaiting for Perpetual Burn to replace Custom custom...

If you have the PB in place, how about a coil tap? You can easily try that out without fitting a push pull, just wire up a single coil.

Re: awaiting for Perpetual Burn to replace Custom custom...

this should be great, but my strat floyd rose has trembucker at bridge.

Thats, the matter, is tooo difficult to match yjm with one humbucker/trembucker...their output are so lower

Re: awaiting for Perpetual Burn to replace Custom custom...

You can wire a humbucker in parallel, and it will match the output a lot better. A high output pickup like the CC or even a JB can work in parallel. Or, you can wire it to auto-split in position 4. I am not sure any humbucker will match in output in traditional series mode.
