Re: Axe Trak

what are u running thru it ? how much power ? what about the tones and all ? thx!
I run it through the (small) PA in my basement. It sounds like a close-miked speaker, for better and for worse. That means that it sounds a bit more polished than a guitar cab exciting the room but lacks the visceral element you get with a guitar speaker moving lots of air.

It's pretty neutral tonewise so if you're looking for something that nails the sound of an SM57 in front of a Greenback, you might be disappointed. If you get a lot of color from your cab it might take some knob tweaking to find your tone.

Another thing to keep in mind is that its sweet spot is at about 15W (it handles 75W IIRC) so you won't be able get power amp distortion from a big amp without an attenuator.

I got mine when my wife was preggers figuring that it would be a great tool to let me use my good amps with minimal disturbance to the rest of the family. It's probably great for home recording but I haven't used it much for that application because I have good access to a "real" studio.
