Bad Attack of Gas - What Do You Suggest?

So I've got a couple of hundred quid (that £ to you non brits) burning a whole in my pocket and a 59 pickup sitting on the shelf screaming out for a guitar.

What should I get? I'm after something that I could have ago at setting up myself and maybe moding a little without having to worry if I make a mess of it.

I've been lurking round Ebay looking at the likes of Aria, Antoria, Westbury, Westone, CSL, Ibanez, Yamaha etc - generally the older 70/80's models. I'm ideally after a LP or SG shape, not too worried about cosmetics but would like to get something that of reasonable build quality.

Any suggestions or experiences?

Don't use euros in the UK we still use the good old pound but £200 is about $367.25
