Bad BUZZZ issue when i use the Line 6 Pod HD Bean and Orange Crush

so i'm running the Pod as a pedal board into the input of the Orange; boost/eq/noise gate on the dirty channel
but even with the Pod turned off, there is a bad buzzing when plugged in
i tried it with a 1ft D'addario flat patch cable, and the buzzing was even worse
amp noise is relatively subdued
do i need a 3-conductor cable?

i'll try it with the Pod unplugged....

nope. no difference between turned off, and unplugged.

when i use the same cable to plug into my guitar, it goes almost completely silent

so i had the Pod plugged into my compter for the editing software.
unplugged that, and buzzing stopped
i can handle things, i'm smaaht... not like everybody says
