Bad ground

so i own a 2013 Gibson Government Series V and im getting this buzz that i have tracked back to my guitar as i ruled every thing possible out. Now whats happening with this buzz is its taken a lot of the tone out of the guitar but when i touch any part of the metal the buzz stops and the guitar sounds fine. I am pretty sure its a ground issue and would like to save some money by doing it my self, does anybody know how to diagnose and then fix the problem?

Re: Bad ground

The issue is either poor grounding or a loop. Inspect all solder joints between the bridge stud inserts and the jack socket. If necessary, refresh the solder.

Re: Bad ground

Ground wire should attach at/under the tail piece bushing. Check continuity and resistance from ground wire to tailpiece bushing. That should rule out, or in, the ground wire itself.

I could be wrong but I think Gibson used to just trap the wire under the bushing, sandwiched between wood and bottom of bushing. I don't know if Gibson still does it that way or if it's soldered to the bushing these days.
