Baja Classic Tele

This guitar is simply amazing! Classic 3 barrel bridge, custom shop 59 pickups, 4 way switching plus S-1 switching gives this classic tele 6 pickup options.

In case you're not familiar with this guitar, see the specs at http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0141502389

Seriously, if you're considering a highway 1 tele, give this tele a try instead. It's custom shop designed with custom shop pickups, but MIM so the price is under $1k.

The neck is very thick unlike other strats and teles. It's described as a soft v, but I think it's false because my strat is a soft v and this neck feels like a baseball bat compared to my strat.

The pickups are very low output and warm. The bridge has a very nice snarl through my marshall.

I am puzzled by one thing, however.

I love the pickups that are on the guitar. It's just weird how low output they are. My strat has neck and mid single coils that are about 5.5k output and they give off more output and volume than the pickups on the tele. Maybe it's the 500k pots on my strat that is causing it to give the singles more output?

Anyways, if I have time, I'll post pics.

-----Edit ------

Whoops sorry, meant to post this in the guitar forum and not the pickup forum. Although, I am still puzzled by the output difference between this tele and my strat that already has low output pickups

Re: Baja Classic Tele

While being a good concept, My experiences in playing that model weren't as favorable as yours. The guitar overall is pretty heavy. The neck was not to my liking and the tuners wouldn't keep their tune. I have played others; however, that were nice. Bottom line? QC with Fender is getting to be a little lack-luster. Try'em all.....
