Bands new recordings from a decent studio need comments!

Hey guys just got done with a 6 hour session at the local music shop that has a cool studio in it. Was hoping to get some comments! Were a 5 piece melodic hard rock/metal band (with singing vocals). Both me and the other guitar player do solos. My solos in shattered glass. My guitar is a Gibson Sg Faded Special with duncan distortion and pearly gates (brigde neck respectively).

The website is Myspace.com/doubleexcel

Just go there and it starts playing one of our songs, please leave all comments, and constructive critisism is always a must.

P.S. Me the Drummer and our other guitar player are 15, our bass player is 12, and our singer is 17. (the 7th grade bass player is quite possibly the best in high school and he still has 2 years to go :))

Thanks in advance- Drew and Double Excel

Really nice stuff considering your age (hell, im 15 myself, and my band doesnt sound halfway that professional :) )

The bass player seems too sloppy in his playing, not enough tigthness and dynamic control over his playing, which can keep the band from "grooving" :p. Anyway, the drums are really nice, nice tigth guitar playing :).

Maybe i'll post a few clips of my band someday, hehe ;)

Cheers!

hey thanks man, yea the bass player is 12, and his main strengths are in slapping. Though on recordings sometimes he shows up uncontrolled. Hopefully itll come with time :) Thanks again

I give the playing some good marks but the engineering was a bit lacking IMO even given the short recording time you had to work with. Thats no fault of your though obviously.

thanks, as you said resources were limited, it was cheap too 200 bucks for 6 hours, and the dude only had really 2 or 3 rack pieces, his computer, and some good mics!

if anyones interested every guitar sound on those recordings is a mesa single rectifier. The solo in shattered glass was boosted with a tube screamer. Other then that everythings pretty straight forward.

Pretty good demo tracks. Nothing too original here, "singer" is terrible, really painful to listen to. Very Dream Theater influenced, which is a great way to start, but you have to loose the outright DT cloning. Sorry, but you solicited opinions. Keep working at it! And play more solos!
