Barber Tone Press for Acoustic Guitar Rig: Any good?

Guys,

I turns out that I dunno **** about acoustic guitar rigs...

Anyways, my band is gonna be playing some acoustic set. 2 guitars (both acoustic, piezo - and no acoustic amp... am thinking of sending the signal direct into the PA) keys and bass.

I thought I could use my Barber Tone Press as a "clean" boost and/or comp. For lead stuff if needed, or rhythm stuff to "smooth" things...

Good or bad thinking? Signal coming out of my Taylor 110E (some piezo output). Can I use Barber Tone Press there? I am not going to be using any acoustic amp.

Thanks in advance.

For all my acoustic stuff I run from the piezo in my guitar out to a Joyo Roll Boost (a Micro Amp clone) and then into An L.R. Baggs ParaAcoustic DI out to the PA. Before I got the Joyo boost, I just used a volume pedal to solo boosting.

This set up has worked very well for me. If your Taylor's pickup has a good amount of output, you can probably get away without the Baggs (or whatever other pre-amp you go with), and depending on the PA you are using, you shouldn't need too much to "smooth" out the rhythm parts, but some sort of volume boost for the leads will probably be necessary.

Matt thanks for the input man, I appreciate it!

Guys, I have a question: Do I have to have a acoustic preamp? My guitar is a Taylor 110E, and it has Taylor’s ES-T® pickup...

Totally spaced answering this... You don't have to have an acoustic preamp if your pickup has a decent amount of output. I'm not super familiar with the Taylor line, but looking at the ES-T on their website, I'd say you should be able to get by without getting a separate preamp.

If you have a gain effect in there, like a compressor, a distortion, or a boost, you should be able to straight to any old PA input.
