Bass pickups

I'm going to start making a bass soon, its going to have a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and the body will be maple in the center with mahogany on the sides(kinda like a neck through). I'm thinking that for the pickups I want a SMB-4a in the bridge and a SSB-4 in the neck(well more like the middle). Then have a three way toggle and two volumes and two tones.

The first thing I wanted to know about was the SMB-4a. I was reading the description on the website and it says "The Alnico magnets have the effect of extending both ends of the frequency spectrum beyond that of the ceramic magnet version. In other words, the Alnico version is both warmer on the bottom and more detailed on top." When I read this I remembered hearing somewhere that Stingrays dont have much mids and I thought that maybe the alnico's were even more so like that. I dont even know if the thing about Stingrays is true, but I want to know if this is the case or not
