Battle Of The Amps!

A Skater

Okay, after much research on <$300 amps, I have narrowed down the list of amps to this:

Marshall VS 100 ($280, tried it out at a music go round and sounded pretty gnarly.)
Fender 212R (I've read about it)
Behringer GMX 212 (I've only played the 210, but I'm guessing that the 212 is just louder but still is better)

WHich one do you guys think is a better choice? Any amp that is <$300 and sounds good and has a good clean with some effects is welcome to be tried out. Help me choose them please?

Re: Battle Of The Amps!

I'm not much of a fan of any of the amps you listed, however, IF I had to choose one from your list it would be the VS100. I used to own a 2x12 version of it and it was decent for the money. Hope that helps. :)

Re: Battle Of The Amps!

which is that 212r fender? is it from their new 'metal' series whatsitcalled FM i think. they're supposed to be good for SS amps

but if you're looking in that price range, i'd say dont go new, get a n used Fender Roc-Pro 750 it's a hybrid amp, tube preamp and a SS power section, it's pretty damn good if you ask me, but still not a truly kickass amp like you should be getting, but your funds are too low (story of my life)
the cleans are amazing and you can always get a tube screamer or something like that to get more gain going on.

Re: Battle Of The Amps!

Okay, I've been reading more on the Fender FM 212R and hypotheticly, it's really loud and great for cleans. I want a clean that can make my Duncan Invader sound awesome(Clean). I got an MT-2 for distortion, so that should take care of it. But a Question comes up. Between those 3, which one would you choose? The marshall VS is a combo, not the head.

Re: Battle Of The Amps!

you're intending to make the invader sound good clean.. well, you got a treat in for ya. but fenders are usually nice and the FM's have quite a lot of gain
