How much does it run? You can get used BBE's all day for >$70.

If I remember right, AMS has it listed at $99. Might be $79 though, I'll have to check. They aren't shipping until the end of April though.

I wonder if it'll last longer than their old Stinger pedal. It was only on the market for a couple of years.

If it works well, I'd hope so. I would prefer the stompbox design over a rack unit by far. I'd be willing to pay the little bit of extra cash for the stompbox if it meant I didn't have to buy the rack unit, a small rack to mount it in, and worry about finding one more outlet :laugh2:

Yep, I was looking at the Stinger a few months ago and came across this new pedal... I'd love to hear how good the new ones work.

i'd like to know the same thing. the bassist in my band has one in his rack, but i still think his bass sounds like sh*t :smack:

Unless I'm on crack, this basically looks like an EQ pedal that boosts the 50hz and 10khz frequencies by about 12 dbs.

Basically, it's not like the Sonic Maximizers at all........

Those devices, per my *limited* understanding, use specific FREQUENCY DEPENDENT delays to actually change the times that certain NATURAL guitar frequencies arrive at the amp's speaker cone (compared to the other frequencies), thus creating a more expansive and robust tone.

It's basically a way of improving/maximizing speaker cone performance. It's much more complicated than boosting bass & treble frequencies via a limited EQ pedal.

I don't blame BBE for trying to make a buck off of a farce, though.

They basically go through and clean up the signal, realign it to remove any phase cancellation (I think, someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I had one in my old rack setup and it was great! Made everything sound more open and tighter.

That sucks if what you're saying is true. Your description of a "real" Sonic Maximizer is dead on though. Cool units.
