make the AZ have a lot more sparkle?
this is the second new air zone i have owned and i still have this one fault with them, they seem to lacks the sparkle of the CC?
mine always stay to middybassy and dark whereas the CC's just are perfect?
and not as boomy
would going to a 1meg pot be the answer?
i already do not hook up any tone pots just a 500K volume and still the AZ seems to not have the "humbucking bite" i prefer:banghead:
I should probably just give up on these air zones and stay with all CC's
but i figured i would ask to see if anyone else had this problem
BTW, the AZ was in a alder stat type with rosewood board but in the past with my old one i tried it in hard ash, basswood both with all maple boards and even mahogany which sounded too fat obviously

Re: Before i sell the AIR ZONE is there anyway to

The Air Zone was way too fat for me too. But anyway I don't like fat tones in general.

Doesn't the presence amp control help anyhow?

I play a 5150 block letter stack and i also own a HW1959slp RI half
either of these amps love the duncans especially the CC but the dimarzios are giving me a lot more trouble with my sparkle i like and prefer
maybe it is just some dimarzios?
was LEW right after all? are the dimarzios the NANNY in disgiuse? LOL!
the Vhot paf is fine but the AZ,TZ norton, and some others dont have the clearness and sparkle i like
maybe i should just go ahead and sell the AZ since this was a problem i had before with the AZ i dont know why i bought another?:banghead:
here it is if anyone wants it i am not even going to waste time with any quick fixes for the dimarzio

Try installing a metal spacer between the pole pieces and the magnet. It will add sparkle. In fact, it will make your pickup a Tone Zone. My favorite, however, was the Half-Zone, with only the coil closer to the neck having a metal spacer. It just sounded right to me.

elmers glue and some glitter ought to do the trick

:joke:
seriously, I had a AirZone and loved it in my SZ520.....until I tried a Custom Custom in it , we seem to like the CC for different reasons, for me the AZ just didnt pack the bottom end whallop of the CC in a mahogany body

When you speak of sparkle I suspect your talking about playing clean, and I know very little about that,:headbang:
Dump the Dimarzio

Re: Before i sell the AIR ZONE is there anyway to

If you want sparkle when playing clean, or clean-ish, split the Air Zone. It splits beautifully. Turn up the presence on your amp too. That'll add some sparkle to the tone.
