Now, Now Zerberus, We must not make fun of Bell Tones.
If it wasn't for Seth Lover designs, Alexander Graham Bell's single coils would be more popular today.
David Gilmour did an album where he split coils and had great BT's, I think it was called The Division Bell :jester:

I heard the Alnico V makes more Bell tones than the Alnico II

Why do humbuckers make more bell tones than signal coils?

Walter, have you attempted to wind your own pickups yet? I'm not saying that to be rude or sarcastic, but it sounds like you're asking all these questions as a way to avoid just going for it. Go with the Nike slogan: "Just do it". Trust me, you will learn far more that way than continuing to ask these same questions.

Walter, hopefully you must have arrived at some type of conclusion/solution by now!

I certainly admire all the folks that responded to you. I can't offer anything "technical". However, the respect I have for everyone that tried to help is immense.

Everyone who responded (apart from myself) deserves the admiration of the rest of us.

Good luck with the bell tones ...really man, I mean it with all sincerity.

If i wind my pickups how do i wind them for more bell tones or even to generate or produces different bell tone frequency i don't even know the theory behind bell tones to even try to wind a pickup to have any at all if i knew the background and theory behind bell tones i can wind a pickup with bell tones

Dude, in all seriousness and without wanting to sound like an ass (which I inevitably will anyway, but..)

Just grab 6 rod magnets, a spool of wire, and a top and bottom bobbin, and wind one....

1. not everyone has the came mental picture of "bell tones", "chimey", or similar.

2. the experience you gain by winding ANY single coil (all single coils are generally more "chimey" and "bell like" than humbuckers) and then winding it again differently, writing down teh specs both times, will be immensely more than anything we can tell you.

You have obviously grasped that pickup winding is a science... now you simply have to accept the fact that it´s a very undocumented science with lots of voodoo and Hubub mixed in with actual fact. And to learn to separate the facts from the Chaff, you just have to sit down and start winding, period

I don't think we're helping Walters by answering his questions. We're only feeding his obsession or compulsion. I honestly think (nothing personal Walters, I say this to try and help) that ignoring him would help him most.

Buy 3 of the strat pickup kits and I think one of the 42 Gauge wire spools should be enough. When you wind the pickup, DON'T MAKE IT NEAT! MAke it look like a mess of wires, like a ball of yarn after a cat on cocaine had a field day with it. I'm not sure how many turns would yeild 6k, but try to get the DC resistance of the winding to at or around 6k. Pop it in your strat and see for yourself.

I'm sure there is a science to it, but most of what is known about pickups seems to have been come about through experimentation. You know enough right now to wire a good pickup yourself whether you think so or not man, and I'm sure you can do it... so grab the kit and some wire and dive in!

Make sure you have enough tension on it or you will get feedback at high gain/volume. I've learned this the hard way...
