bendability

got back from guitar center, played a few axes, most of which were more bend friendly than mine. Especially a semi hollowbody epiphone, which completely blew me away in terms of bending gracefully and effortlessly with the merest string wiggle. My schecter takes a good bit of stretch to get a 1/2 step bend.

So what makes a good bending axe? I have eb hybrid slinkies, so pretty light strings, and it's a hardtail which all should make it pretty easy to bend... right? How much influence does a better bridge/nut make in terms of bending? Maybe something to do with scale length?
just wondering,
dan

Re: bendability

It was probally something to do with scale length.

Re: bendability

What gauge strings do you play on your own axes? Guitars at stores usually have something light, around 9-42 I think.

Re: bendability

Shorter scale generally means easier bends - there's less string tension.

Re: bendability

your scale length hs some affect, chances are im going to guess your guitar has a scale length is 25 3/4' where as gibsons and epiphones are 24 3/4' thus making theme asier to bend. Also storues use alot lighter string than your hybrids. Juts a bit though not a huge difference.

I'd say scalloped frets will make bending extremely easy, no matter what the scale length.
