Hey everyone,
Got a PRS SE Mark Holcomb a few weeks ago and frankly the pickups that are in it are the best I've ever heard. (Alpha/Omega)
Ignoring the fact that they're in such limited quantities I don't quite have enough to get another set. I'm looking for something comparable to put into my PRS SE Torero - they're stock with EMGs which I finally see that compared to the Duncans are absolute garbage - to have a similar sound, the alpha/omega are just so dynamic, I play in drop B and they fly through every note and every chord is articulate its unreal.
For starters, kudos :bigthumb: to Seymour Duncan, Mark Holcomb and I think Keith Merrow had a hand it in too, for making an incredible all around pickup.
My question to all of you is, what do you think I could get that's in SD's regular lineup that would compare to the Alpha/Omega set?
My thoughts are currently on the Nazgul/sentient set. As I mentioned I play in drop B but most of my music is lyrically/groove driven so I don't do a whole lot in the soloing department but something that could do that as well would be awesome. If I classified my style it would probably just be like heavy alternative, metal elements, think like a cross between Breaking Benjamin/Old Three Days Grace and Killswitch Engage with some djent riffs thrown in whenever i'm feelin it.
If I went BKP I figure I'd get an aftermath set but I would like to get Duncans if I can, have a lot of trust in the brand.
I play through a Mesa rectifier if that helps at all.
Thank you in advance for any and all advice I receive.
Really appreciate it!
