whats the best amp??? i want/need an amp that can do pretty much everything. one amp that can do everything.

All purpose everything? From Jazz & R&B to country and Metal?

No offense, but I don't think any amp can do everything. Sparkling cleans, dirty overdrive, high gain crunch, I'm not really sure any one amp can do everything. Your best bet is a modeler.

From the information given he might as well of been asking "what's that thing?"

Of course...you may be prone to have an answer to that one as well.

Continue on...it makes for great performace art.

i think the 59 bassman can do just about everything with some pedals and a guitar with vintage pickups

Well, you can't get the best amp because John Petrucci already has them. If you play through them people might die and the Earth will rotate to fast and centrifugul force will send us into space.

I do feel like my Matchless Chieftan with reverb can do everything I need an amp to do. It can play it Fender clean or Marshall mean.

I feel that the Mission 30 watt Aurora can do it all too...but my Matchless is louder and therefore has more headroom for cleaner tones.

Any of my modded blackface Fenders can do it all...but they've been tweaked for a wider variety of tones....they overdrive easier than stock blackface Fenders.

I would love to hear some of Scott_F's amps someday!

LEW - have you heard the Bogner stuff? Budda? Blockhead? How do you think it all compares to Matchless?

I am mostly interested in the Bogner comparison.
