I'm gluing some quilted maple veneer onto a Tele style basswood body, what is the best glue to use and does anyone have any tips or tricks to make it easier/better? I'm planning on just clear staining/oiling it or a blue burst.

Maybe apply a little bit of acetone soaked into some clothe to the surfaces and then proceed with your favorite wood glue.

Franklin Titebond.

Same stuff Gibson uses for their necks, which will see a hell of a lot more tension on them than the top on your guitar will.

how thick is this veneer? There are special glues for veneer, I have used titebond but its not easy as the thin stock will curl up on you almost instantly. Controlable on a headstock but with a body it could be a huge stress.

You need lots of clamps and a big flat board to clamp over the entire thing so the pressure is distributed evenly.
