The Marshall JackHammer does a great simulation of a JCM 800, as does a modded Boss DS1.

A Rat isn't too bad either or a BOSS SD-1. Just depends on the tone settings. MrHM.

Considering Zakk uses a DS-1, I think one modded from stratdeluxer97 would be a great idea.

If you want one that will sound good at quiet bedroom levels as well as high volume situations, get a Radial Tonebone Hotbritish. $220 well spent.

I agree with Jonesy, I've played the TB thru several different amps, and she always delivers. Not cheap, but it's a killer pedal. Good luck!

Boss SD1. that super overdrive is one of my all time favorite pedals. It sounds killer in front of an 800 head. Ripping ZW brewtal sounds to Richie Sambora's taisty tone. I dig the Fulltone stuff too, but I still recomend the SD1 over all

That fulltone looks cool especially with the boost, does the boost acually add volume or does it just add more gain? the tonebone looks good too but both of those are pretty pricey and I need to purchase quite a few things so money definately is a factor. A modded boss sd-1 might be the ticket, its cheap and i've heard alot good about it, I just wish my music store carried those boutique pedals so I could try them.

G2D classic overdrive. This pedal goes after the plexi tone, but has more gain. It'll do what you're after. I owned the original Guv'nor (the best of them), and it's not even in the same ballpark. Save yourself several purchases and get one of these (or a tonebone).

Also, give the Wylde OD a try. A friend of mine spent an afternoon with one recently and said he liked it. The SD-1 is more of a lead boost pedal, where the Wylde OD is good for both lead and rhythm.
That's his opinion anyway, I'm still looking for one to try out.....

Guys, sounds like he's after a pedal to cop the 800 sound, not push the input of an 800.
Go G2D or Tonebone.
I also remember a Carl Martin pedal getting a review in Guitar Player in the late 90s that mentioned JCM 800 tone. Ask Rid.

Eh HDB the org one...it must have been??
Well that is a very tranparent unit, it is dependant on how your amp sounds, does not have that big bottomend as some other overdrives has, but has that nice sweet crunch.
We have another overdrive out soon, but that is something alittle more pushing in every aspect.

Another: the Bartolini tube-it was designed to cop the 800 sound. No idea if these are still made. Ebay?
