I haven't tested that many DiMarzios but from what I remember best:

-The PAF Pro is a really, really good all-around humbucker that I wouldn't kick out from really any guitar.

-The Tone Zone sounds terrific for what it does. It also has a very good split tone to be used at the bridge position... the best that I remember of.

......dunno what help will it be...but it is mostly about how you play......not how the specs are....I have stuff from a PAF to a Stevens Special...they all work well to me!

I love the VPAF neck model in my LP. That's a keeper for sure.

I'm tempted to give the new 36th Anniversary bridge model a try.

DMZ has a few good all around pickups. Like mentioned a few posts up, the VHPAF is a good all around pickup. I also like the Air Norton, EVO2B, Breed neck. Or the tried and true Super Distortion/PAF pro setup.

I've only ever tried a super distortion, I find them fairly bright, but are good for what they are.

So I read that the 36th Aniv do not in fact sound as good as the VPAP & VHPAF unfortunately. Does anyone have any experience here?

The combo of a PAF Pro in the neck and a Super Distortion in the bridge is pretty unbeatable for any style of rock

Paf Pro is easily one of the best neck humbuckers out there and a surprisingly good lowish output modern sounding bridge pickup in most instruments.Not really pafish but balanced and clean sounding in both positions.It also has no love/hate relationships with certain tonewoods and construction methods on guitars.I've never heard one that sounded less than good on any guitar,and in some cases it sounded amazing.

Excellent dynamic response too, doesn't sound like **** when you pick hard and doesn't sound wimpy with soft picking.

I'll say the regular old PAF. Second only to a Duncan PG IMO.

Airzone is pretty happening for a hot pup...And a SuperD is way more flexible than you'd think!

I love the way a MegaDrive works with my rig.

From the list I picked Super Distortion. Very good all around pickup that has the power to drive an amp but splits and parallels well too.
