best pick group whilst palm muting.

When I first started playing I held the pick using the pad of my thumb & the pads of my index and middle fingers.

I soon discovered this wasn't the best way & my hand would get fatigued rather quickly, so I switched to the widely advised grip using the pad of my thumb and upper side of my index finger.

I don't play many heavy styles or use many palm muting techniques, & to be honest if I use the 2nd grip I stink at it I can't seem to rest the side of my palm on the bridge properly whilst still hitting the strings properly, If I use the first grip I can PM effectively. but then either have to stick to that grip throughout or try to switch grips mid song which often ends with the pick on the floor.
I wear the guitar round my hips (not my knees) so the bony part of my wrist would be around waist height

How do others do it?
Am I flogging a dead horse try to use the 'correct' grip? or am I missing something technique wise?

Me, too - when I bother to use a pick at all.

A friend of mine has always used the thumb and two fingers grip. Some of the sonic variety derived from angling the edge of the pick with respect to the strings seems to be lacking in his recordings.

I USED to do the thumb+ 2 fingers. Yes at first stuff like heavy palm muting was tough with the second technique, but....practice pays off. I am now MUCH more efficient with my palm muting and playing overall.

Never underestimate the power of practice.
