Best place to order a Shop Floor Custom

I sent a message to the Custom Shop, too. Mostly for selfish reasons, because I might order one!

I have a student who is looking to order a Shop Floor Custom. What he described seems to fall under the Shop Floor Custom program and not the Custom Shop. These have to be ordered through an actual SD dealer. I'd rather send him to a dealer that people here have a good history ordering from (not just in stock, but using the Shop Floor Custom program). Our local SD dealer has closed, and I'd rather not send him to a chain like GC or SA.

Sweetwater was really good to me when I ordered a shop floor custom set.

Also several dealers like Mike did things like ordering a bunch of Custom 8s as floor custom pickups and then stocking them. I would love to see exactly what can be ordered as a floor custom option.

After no response, I contacted the Custom Shop directly (honestly, it got me thinking about a set for myself).

Interesting turn of events. My student has decided to not spring for either a Custom Shop or even Shop Floor Custom pickup set. He is going with an uncovered stock Whole Lotta Humbucker set. BUT, this allowed me to think about what I want for my Warmoth build, and I think a custom set of black covered Seths might be perfect, so I am going to order them. I have to tweak what I want from what he wanted- I want black baseplates, a logo on the cover (in black) and one pickup to be rw/rp. I also want 4 conductor, and short legs.

I put this order in through the Custom Shop. I never heard from Banjomikez one way or the other. Oh well. I will have my pickups in about 2 months (about the same time until I get the body shipped to me from Warmoth).

That's too bad about Banjomikez. I'm surprised to hear it, as I've ordered two Seymour Duncan pickups from him (an SSL-5T and a Shop Floor Custom WLH bridge). Both times, his customer service was above and beyond.

Hopefully it’s not a Covid related thing with BMike. I, too had a great experience dealing with him
