Best PUP for disco

I am having a guitar built to use in my disco cover band. What would be the best all around PUPs for use in a purely disco guitar?

Re: Best PUP for disco

Whatever sounds good to you...single coils have a clearer sound...don't hear much OVERDRIVE tone used in disco: mostly "chicka chicka" rythym.

I used to play alot of R&B when I gigged for a living...my Strat never let me down.

If you want the best Strat tone on the planet try a complete set of Antiquity II's.

Actually for my fave Strat tone I use Bill Lawrence 280's. However I still like the Vintage Rails quite a bit too.

When I think of Disco, I think of a pink or violet sparkly strat with single coils, and an almost "pornish" Schwacka-Schwacka with an occaisional jangly doinga-dink

Antiquities (more likely the cleaner, smoother IIs like Lew recommended, but I´ve only used the Texas Hots) should be your ticket to ride

Or a set of Vintage Rails or duckbuckers if you want noisless pickups. I think the Classic Stacks would likely be too "woody" for most disco folks ;)

Oh man, that brings an image to mind!! Polyester bell bottoms, purple feathers, platform shoes and a Strat through a funky Wah pedal chunking out "Get Down Tonight" or "Brick House"

I agree the Ant's or Alnico II Pro's should do the Disco thing pretty well.

Re: Best PUP for disco

Yep i rekon a good strat for those funky sparkly strat sounds, with maybe something hotter in the bridge like a custom staggered/flat for strat just for a bit more oompf when you want it.

Re: Best PUP for disco

And what about a low output A2 humbucker on the bridge of a ES-335? I've heard an disco band with that and it was amazing (and much more expensive!!!)
